About the role

The coach is responsible for planning and leading swim practices for various age groups while monitoring swimmer progress and providing feedback. They will also prepare the team for competitions and maintain a safe, supportive environment for all participants.

Winter swim team coach

About the Role

The Winter Swim Team Coach is responsible for coaching and supporting all swimmers of ages 6-16 and skill levels during the winter season. The coach will help swimmers improve their technique, endurance, and overall performance while creating a positive and supportive team environment. Practice will be held Monday-Thursday 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

The coach will plan practices, track swimmer progress, provide feedback, and prepare the team for swim meets and competitions. The coach will also work with assistant coaches, parents, and swim supervisor staff to support the success and development of all team members.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Previous experience coaching a swim team or similar aquatic program.
  • Knowledge of swimming techniques, training, and competition rules.
  • Nassau Lifeguard Certification, CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Ability to work the winter season schedule and attend practices and meets.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • USA Swimming or similar coaching certification.
  • Experience coaching swimmers of various levels.
  • Experience working with swimmers of different ages and skill levels.
  • Additional water safety or lifeguarding certifications.
  • Knowledge of athlete development

Responsibilities

  • Plan and lead swim practices for different age groups and skill levels.
  • Teach proper stroke techniques, conditioning, and race skills.
  • Monitor swimmers' progress and provide helpful feedback.
  • Prepare swimmers for meets and competitions.
  • Attend and help organize swim meets.
  • Communicate with swimmers, parents, and staff about progress and goals.
  • Maintain a safe, positive, and supportive team environment.
  • Encourage teamwork, discipline, and good sportsmanship.
  • Follow current swimming rules, coaching practices, and safety procedures.

  • Strong swimming and coaching knowledge.

  • Ability to motivate and work with swimmers of different skill levels.

Requirements
