Mounds Park Academy is a PreK-12 independent school in Saint Paul, MN that serves approximately 575 students from throughout the Twin Cities area. Since 1982, Mounds Park Academy has engaged students in a rigorous college preparatory experience that is demanding, but not draining, and goes far beyond memorization. Mounds Park Academy seeks a full-time (1.0 FTE) Upper School Math teacher preferably with experience in Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry for the 2026 - 2027 school year. This position includes teaching multiple sections of Upper School math which may include algebra, geometry, and trigonometry. Math teachers at MPA are responsible for providing a classroom instructional program that supports the individual needs of all students in accordance with the school’s mission and values. We seek individuals with one or more degrees in a math-related subject and experience in teaching high school age students.

It is expected that a successful candidate would

  • Teach up to five (5) sections of Upper School Math
  • Emphasize critical thinking through content, research, and analysis
  • Make math relevant and meaningful by inspiring students
  • Create and use diverse lesson plans and syllabi as per MPA Math Curriculum Review
  • Supervise, encourage, counsel, and evaluate students
  • Foster and sustain an effective classroom environment that fosters open discussion with the freedom to express varied points of view
  • Utilize and incorporate available academic technology for instruction
  • Communicate and meet with students and parents during scheduled conferences and as necessary
  • Participate in Math Department and staff development activities
  • Revise and plan new curriculum in conjunction with other members of the Math Department
  • Show a willingness to contribute to the life of the school outside of the classroom
  • Perform additional duties as needed (serve on school-wide committees, attend open houses, advise a student club, etc.)

Qualifications

and Experiences Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in one or more Math related subjects
  • Master’s Degree or equivalent, preferable
  • Five (5) years teaching experience at the upper school level or beyond
  • Experience teaching Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, and Statistics, preferable
