About the role

The Lead Teacher is responsible for designing and implementing developmentally appropriate lesson plans while ensuring the physical, emotional, and educational needs of children are met. They also maintain accurate classroom documentation and coordinate with administrative staff to uphold safety and licensing standards.

Description

Eliada Homes, a historical fixture within Western North Carolina since 1903, is one Asheville's longest running nonprofits. Our beautiful 300+ acre campus provides a cradle to career continuum of services for over 600 children and youth annually. Child Development staff work with children up to 5 years of age providing them with services which focus on social, emotional, cognitive, and motor development while integrating life-skills into our daily activities and lessons.

Eliada's 5-Star accredited facility offers an amazing team focused atmosphere where you are able to learn and grow while making an impact in the lives of young students. Eliada Child Development staff qualify for tuition assistance through T.E.A.C.H., and supplemental wages through WAGE$.

Early Childhood Lead Teachers assume primary role in designing and implementing activity plans, record-keeping, care and supervision of children in the classroom, communicating with parents and administrative staff, and delegates appropriate duties and responsibilities to teacher and teacher’s assistant.

What you'll be doing

Write and implement daily/weekly lesson plans that are developmentally appropriate for children in care. Meet children’s physical, emotional, and educational needs through close supervision, observation, and supportive one-on-one and group interactions. Assist the Director in creating service plans for children with special needs. Maintain accurate, organized, and up-to-date classroom records and documentation. Communicate with administrative staff to ensure licensing, safety, and sanitation standards are consistently upheld.

Requirements

Education/Experience

Associate's Degree in Early Childhood, or currently enrolled in this program, is required for this position. Comparable degrees include, but not limited to, Psychology, Social Work, and Elementary Education.
