The assistant teacher will support the social, physical, and intellectual growth of children aged six weeks to four years while maintaining a safe and sanitary classroom environment. The Infant Toddler Assistant Teacher will contribute to the vision, mission, and values of the Youngstown Area Jewish Federation by caring for children ages six weeks to four years old by promoting their social, physical, and intellectual growth with standards of excellence. Coordinate with teachers and administration to maintain a structured environment with planned activities both in the classroom and outside Coordinate with teachers and administration to promote positive social behaviors in the classroom Assist teachers in assimilating arriving children to the school environment by greeting them, helping them remove outerwear, and selecting activities of interest to them Assist teachers with children’s basic needs by feeding them, dressing them, and changing their diapers according to state guidelines, serving meals and snacks in accordance with nutritional guidelines Observe students to ensure safety according to state guidelines and DCY Maintain a sanitary classroom environment by sanitizing and cleaning dishes, toys, and clothing Provide detailed information to parents/guardians picking up the students each day Maintain student daily sheets and attendance book Communicate and cooperate with colleagues and families as part of the Early Learning team, including attending staff meetings as needed Work in multiple classrooms as assigned Adhere to all JCC and departmental policies Complete all additional duties as assigned by supervisor
High School diploma or GED required. CDA or college degree (Associates, Bachelors etc) in a related field is preferred. Certifications which include First Aid, CPR, Child Neglect, and Communicable Diseases to be completed within the first 90 days of employment. Candidates must pass an FBI/BCI background check and drug screen. The ideal candidate will enjoy working with students ages six weeks to four years and have a high level of interpersonal communication skills.
