The Academic Advisor consults with students to develop academic plans, monitor progress toward degree completion, and provide support through college challenges. They also assist with student success initiatives, orientation programs, and administrative tasks such as managing student files and appointments.

What We Are Looking For

The Academic Advisor consults directly with students on developing academic plans, providing support through challenges in college, advising on course selection, overseeing assigned responsibilities related to student retention, and providing guidance on academic progress toward degree completion. The Academic Advisor provides critical support to the Hankamer School of Business student population ensuring students maintain satisfactory academic progress toward degree completion. The Academic Advisor also presents information to small and large groups of parents and students.

A Bachelor's degree and one year of relevant work experience are required. A Master’s degree and two years of relevant work experience is preferred.

All applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

What You Will Do

  • Advise Students on Academic Requirements
  • Serve as advisor of record for freshmen, sophomores, juniors, seniors, and transfer students by developing educational plans, selecting courses, evaluating academic progress, referring to university resources and reviewing BBA options and study abroad
  • Help with Student Success Initiatives and New Student Orientation
  • Assist in various departmental, Business School, and University initiatives to improve student success including new student advising and orientation
  • Assist with Presentations and Business School/University Events
  • Assist as a presenter as needed and attend daily prospective student visits, recruiting events, current student events, and summer orientation
  • Administrative Tasks
  • Document student appointments, manage digital files, manage appointments, email communication, and process petitions
  • Other Duties As Assigned
  • Assist with additional projects including an option to participate in missions and study abroad opportunities as needed
  • Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor’s mission
  • Ability to comply with university policies
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance
