About the role

The role involves supporting children in classroom and bus settings to ensure full participation in the Head Start program. Responsibilities include maintaining supervision, assisting with daily routines, and adhering to safety and licensing standards.

Description

This position will involve assisting in the classroom and/or on the bus to support the ability of children to participate fully in the Head Start preschool experience.

Qualifications

  • 1.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience working with infants/toddlers/preschool age children and/or Infant/Toddler/Preschool CDA preferred, but not required.
  • 2.
  • Complete pre-employment physical and drug screening; complete BCI and FBI background check.
  • 3.
  • Must be physically capable of working with young children including the ability to lift, see, and hear children at all possible times.
  • 4.
  • Must be insurable under the agency’s policy.

Duties: & Responsibilities:

  • 1.
  • Maintain compliance with DCY Child Care Licensing, SUTQ, and Head Start Program and Performance Standards.
  • This includes completing a minimum of 15 hours of professional development annually.
  • 2.
  • Adhere to the program Confidentiality Policy/Statement.
  • 3.
  • Mandated reporter of Child Abuse and Neglect.
  • 4.
  • Must have knowledge of child development principles and appropriate discipline techniques.
  • 5.
  • Always maintain proper supervision of children; employ active supervision techniques.
  • 6.
  • Assist child with bathroom procedures; perform diapering duties as necessary.
  • 7.
  • Assists with the implementation of health, emergency procedures and first aid.
  • Respond appropriately to crisis or emergency situations.
  • 8.
  • Assist with the implementation of the daily schedule, lesson plan, and care giving routines for children; this may include providing individualized opportunities for the children outside of the large group setting, accompanying children within the building to other therapies, supporting children as they transition to and from the bus and the playground, supporting children during nap and mealtimes.
  • 9.
  • As assigned accompany drivers on the bus route serving as the monitor.
