About the role

The personal trainer will lead and motivate individuals and small groups through intentionally designed, exercise science-based training sessions. They will also provide health education sessions to members and the community in-person or via Zoom.

Pay Range

Targeted pay range of $12.00 - $25.00/hr, based on experience.

Position Introduction

Using a variety of training, teaching, and motivational techniques, this position will create a positive exercise experience.

This position is a professional who leads and motivates small groups/individuals through intentionally designed, individualized training sessions.

They plan effective, exercise science-based individual sessions for different fitness and experience levels.

They also possess a wealth of motivational and leadership techniques that help individuals achieve fitness goals.

Trainers know the human body, the science of exercise and how to inspire, challenge and motivate change in the lives of the people they lead.

This position also assists with providing health education sessions to members and the OU community in-person or via Zoom.

Training will begin immediately upon hire.

Skills

  • Must be able to train all ages and special populations
  • Must have the ability to obtain a certification accredited through the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) within 6 months

Working Conditions

  • Regular exposure to disagreeable conditions, extreme temperature changes, odors, and hazardous chemicals
  • Lifting and carrying loads up to 50 pounds
  • Excessive use of arms in a back-and-forth motion, stooping and bending
  • Prolonged standing and walking
  • May have constant exposure to loud noises

Required Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent

Department Preferences

  • Personal Trainers currently certified through a NCCA accredited organization such as such as NETA, ACE, NASM, ACSM, NSCA, or ISSA-NCCPT.
  • Current NCCA-approved certification is strongly preferred

Hiring Contingent Upon a Background Check: Yes

Requirements

Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent and have the ability to obtain an NCCA-accredited certification within six months. Current NCCA-approved certification is strongly preferred.
