About the role

The adjunct faculty member provides instructional and coaching support for an assigned athletic program, including skill development and team operations. They are responsible for supporting the academic and personal growth of student athletes while ensuring compliance with institutional and governing body rules.

The Adjunct Faculty, Athletics position provides part time instructional and coaching support for an assigned NWACC athletic program.

This position assists with student athlete development, sport specific instruction, team activities, and the overall operation of the program.

Essential Duties: Provide instruction and coaching in the skills, techniques, strategies, and fundamentals of the assigned sport Assist with practices, competitions, conditioning, and other team activities Support the academic, athletic, and personal development of student athletes Promote a positive, inclusive, and student centered team environment Assist with team preparation, equipment, travel, events, and other program needs as assigned Drive team members to competitions, practices, and other approved activities as needed, provided all required licenses, certifications, training, and institutional approvals have been obtained Follow all NWACC, NJCAA, conference, and applicable sport governing rules and expectations Maintain appropriate professional conduct and ensure the safety and well being of student athletes Perform other related duties as assigned Compensation paid by stipend, determined by qualifications, experience, and workload

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge or experience in the assigned sport as a coach, instructor, or participant Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with students, coaches, employees, and community members Ability to model professionalism, integrity, sportsmanship, and respect Ability to meet any required institutional, safety, background check, and driving requirements

Preferred Qualifications

Previous coaching or instructional experience Collegiate or competitive experience in the assigned sport Current CPR, AED, or first aid certification Work Schedule: This is a part time, temporary position. Hours will vary based on the needs and schedule of the assigned athletic program and may include mornings, evenings, weekends, travel, practices, competitions, and special events. Reporting Structure: This position reports to the head coach of the assigned sport or the designated Athletics administrator. Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands for fine manipulation, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms using equipment such as a keyboard and video display terminal. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, reach, crouch or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and move up to 35 pounds and occasionally up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The work environment is not a standard office setting; but rather encompasses the entire active school campus both inside and outside the facilities.
