About the role

The Early Childhood Teacher provides instruction and supervision to children while assisting the Lead Teacher with lesson plans and classroom activities. They are responsible for maintaining a safe, hygienic environment and communicating effectively with families.

Overview

Provides instruction and supervision to children in early childhood classroom setting. Assists the Lead Teacher in the development and implementation of lesson plans and all classroom activities and assignments; implements daily schedule and lesson plans to ensure children are productively occupied at all times; maintains all applicable licensing and accreditation guidelines; provides guidance and support to children; communicates with families, ensures the health and safety of children and ensures classroom is hygienic.

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • Six (6) months’ experience in a related field.

  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear and taste or smell. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Certificates, licenses, registrations
  • Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating.
  • Possess or ability to obtain Entry-Level Child-Care Training (ELECT) within 90 days of employment.
  • Possess or ability to obtain Child Development Associate Credential or Certificate of master’s in early childhood education within one (1) year of employment.
  • Other requirements
  • The employee must not be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG's Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA's List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).
  • Must meet and maintain pre-employment and periodic background investigation and adjudication for childcare.

Requirements

Candidates must have a High School Diploma or GED and at least six months of experience in a related field. Additionally, they must possess or be able to obtain specific childcare certifications and pass background investigations.
