About the role

The Interventionist provides targeted academic, attendance, and graduation-readiness support to students in grades 9-12. They collaborate with school staff to identify barriers to success, implement individualized intervention plans, and monitor student progress toward graduation.

The Role The Interventionist serves as a key member of the academy's Continuous Improvement Team and provides targeted academic, attendance, graduation-readiness, college readiness, and career readiness interventions for Graduation Candidates (GCs) in grades 9-12. This position focuses on supporting Graduation Candidates who are off-track academically, demonstrate gaps in foundational ELA and Math skills, require End-of-Course (EOC) preparation, need attendance and engagement support, or require additional intervention to remain on track toward graduation.

The Interventionist works closely with the Academic Support Coach, Content Coaches, Graduation Candidate Advocates (GCAs), School Counselor, Testing Coordinator, and academy leadership to identify barriers to success, implement individualized interventions, monitor progress, and improve student outcomes related to graduation, College and Career Readiness (CCR), attendance, and academic achievement.

This is a full-time, academy-based position (CSI State funding) reporting to the Academy Director.

Key Responsibilities Academic Intervention & Progress Monitoring Identify Graduation Candidates requiring intervention through analysis of attendance, course completion, benchmark assessment, EOC, and engagement data.

Provide individualized and small-group intervention services in English Language Arts and Mathematics.

Monitor academic progress, course pacing, and mastery of standards using Edmentum reports, benchmark assessments, and intervention tracking tools.

Support Graduation Candidates with English II and Algebra I EOC preparation, remediation, and readiness activities.

Collaborate with Content Coaches and the Academic Support Coach to develop and implement targeted intervention plans.

Attendance & Engagement Support Monitor attendance and engagement data to identify Graduation Candidates at risk of withdrawal, chronic absenteeism, or academic disengagement.

Conduct attendance interventions, engagement conferences, and individualized success planning.

Collaborate with families, GCAs, and academy staff to address barriers impacting attendance and academic progress.

Graduation, College, and Career Readiness Monitor transcript progress, course completion, and graduation milestones.

Assist Graduation Candidates in developing and achieving academic, career, and postsecondary goals.

Support College and Career Readiness initiatives, including credential attainment, career exploration activities, WIN Career Readiness preparation, ASVAB participation, and postsecondary planning.

Collaborate with the School Counselor to support graduation planning, CCR tracking, and student success initiatives.

School Improvement & Collaboration Participate in school improvement planning, intervention reviews, data meetings, and Continuous Improvement Plan implementation activities.

Collaborate with the Testing Coordinator and Academic Support Coach to identify students requiring intervention based on benchmark and assessment data.

Maintain intervention records, progress-monitoring documentation, attendance intervention logs, and student success plans.

Participate in professional development, coaching cycles, and data review sessions to strengthen intervention effectiveness.

Desired Attributes Education: Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Work, Counseling, or a related field preferred.

Experience

Experience working with at-risk youth, alternative education, dropout recovery, re-engagement, credit recovery, or student support services preferred.

Skills

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Strong understanding of academic intervention, attendance intervention, student engagement, graduation requirements, and College and Career Readiness supports. Ability to analyze student data, identify intervention needs, monitor progress, and document outcomes. Ability to collaborate effectively with Graduation Candidates, families, Content Coaches, GCAs, School Counselors, Testing Coordinators, Academic Support Coaches, and academy leadership. Experience using learning management systems, student information systems, and progress monitoring tools preferred. Bilingual skills preferred, based on academy and community needs.
