Librarian

Role

A professional librarian position, which assumes major responsibility for public service operations. Responsibilities include maintaining current technologies for ILS, CMS, and various contents, and providing information literacy instruction in various settings and technological formats of delivery.

The salary range for this position is $62,427.65 to $93,641.47 per year.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities: 30% - Maintains databases to ensure catalog integrity, and authority control. Standards of system adherence for professional standards MARC, RDA, LCSH, AACR2, and DDC. Systems operations to complete vendor records, management of ILS and troubleshoot issues. Keep abreast of established bibliographic records rules. Completes physical processing as needed and ensures work is complete and accurate. 25%- Develops, arranges, and describes archival collections in accordance with accepted standards and practices. Participates in development and implementation of policies and standards for the archives/special collections. The collection will include papers, photos, books, artifacts, ephemera, and other formats of materials. 15%- Provides professional library instruction to include performing searches and use of the most effective resource and search techniques. In-person classroom instruction as well as distance education instruction, through our LMS. With special emphasis on AI tools that support ethical research in academic research. 15% - Develop and deploy special programs, engagement activities, and instructional workshops that support library and college activities. 10% - Keep abreast of new technical developments related to all areas of responsibility. Assist with structural support/training/mentoring of library staff. 5% - Performs other duties as needed or requested. **This Job Description is not a complete statement of all duties and responsibilities comprising the position.**

Qualifications

Experience: Two years to five years of full-time professional librarian experience.

Education

A Master's degree in Library Science or Information Science from an American Library Association Accredited Institution.

Interpersonal

Skills: Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the college for purposes of giving or obtaining information, building relationships, or soliciting cooperation.

Other

Skills: Knowledge and experience with emerging digital and instructional technologies along with innovative library trends and technologies to include web analytics, CMS, LMS, OCLC, RDA, and MARC, and have knowledge or willingness to learn coding languages. Experience with Canvas or other LMS systems.

Physical

Requirements: The work requires minor physical exertion such as short periods of standing or walking, recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, pushing book trucks 25-50 lbs or similar activities alternating with lighter activities.

Work

Environment: Regular exposure to favorable conditions such as those found in a typical library. **Application is required to be considered for position regardless if resume is submitted.**

Requirements

Candidates must hold a Master's degree in Library or Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution. Additionally, 2 to 5 years of full-time professional librarian experience is required.
