About the role

The instructor will conduct ESL classes for 12 hours per week, focusing on life and work skills to meet student needs. They are responsible for monitoring attendance, tracking student progress, and utilizing educational technology to enhance learning.

What we are looking for Candidates should have knowledge of ESL teaching methodologies and College and Career Readiness standards. Candidates should understand that the most important part of the program is to be student-centric and relevant.

  • Essential Functions
  • Conducts classes for 12 hours per week, per class
  • Utilizes a variety of approaches to maximize the learning of a range of students
  • Incorporates learning on such issues as workplace skills, health literacy, and financial literacy, into the program
  • Motivate students
  • Recognizes student achievement
  • Assures that teaching is relevant to student needs
  • Participates in established CARF Standards
  • Planning and Performance Measurement
  • Monitors and reports attendance
  • Assures that essential topics related to life and work skills constitute the major portion of class time
  • Prepares students for post-tests which delineate progress
  • Maintains contact with department staff to address attendance concerns
  • Utilizes SmartBoard, computers and/or iPads with students on a regular basis
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and computer skills

Preferred Qualifications

& Experience Minimum BA degree TESOL Certification (preferred) Minimum two years of experience teaching adults Experience teaching Beginning English language learners (preferred)

Requirements

Candidates must hold a minimum of a bachelor's degree and have at least two years of experience teaching adults. A TESOL certification is preferred, along with experience teaching beginning English language learners.
