About the role

The Administrative Associate will provide clerical and administrative support to the department chair, faculty, and staff. Responsibilities include greeting visitors, managing phone calls, handling mail, and maintaining office supplies.

Overview

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Auburn University is seeking an Administrative Support Associate. This individual will provide varied administrative and clerical support for the department’s Chair, Faculty and Staff.

Temporary Employment Services (TES), a unit of the Auburn University Department of Human Resources, is an in-house support center established to meet the temporary employment needs of the university. TES provides qualified and dedicated temporary employees in a wide variety of occupations to meet the staffing needs throughout the campus. Temporary employees are hired for a variety of reasons with the most common being:

Assistance in the place of a regular employee who is absent for a specified period of time Additional assistance during periods of abnormal or peak workloads Assistance with special projects Seasonal work Emergencies

Responsibilities

Greeting visitors and answering departmental phone calls. Providing copier and printer support. Maintaining office supplies and assisting with inventory. Managing incoming mail and distributing it appropriately.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent and 2 years of experience in clerical and administrative support services. Substitution allowed for Experience: Yes, when a candidate has the required education, but lacks the required experience, they may normally apply additional appropriate education toward the experience requirement, at a rate of one (1) year relevant education per year of required experience.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

The position requires excellent written and interpersonal communication skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.). The ability to work basic office equipment, and the ability to work as part of a team.
