Job Description and Responsibilities This is a full-time, on-site role as a Special Education Teacher serving a school located in Dearborn, MI.

The Special Education Teacher (SPED) will be responsible for providing teaching and case management services to students, conducting assessments, developing IEP plans, evaluating progress, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams (therapists, educators, parents).

The role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a passion for working with students with special needs.

Job Details Full-time school-based opportunity with a 37.5-hour work week 2026–2027 school year (August through May/June) On-site, in-person position Serve students in Kindergarten through 5th grade in a Cognitive Impairment (CI) Special Education classroom Deliver specialized instruction that supports students' academic, functional, behavioral, communication, and social-emotional development Responsibilities include instructional planning, progress monitoring, student evaluations, IEP development and implementation, collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, and case management Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with state and district special education requirements Guaranteed paid hours, including instruction, documentation, planning, meetings, and administrative responsibilities Ongoing collaboration and support from both the partnering school district and the TheraPeds Partners team Competitive pay of $50–$60+ per hour, with estimated weekly earnings of $1,875–$2,250+

Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and assess individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities. Deliver instruction tailored to meet the diverse learning styles and needs of students. Collaborate with parents, educators, and specialists to ensure a comprehensive approach to student learning and support. Monitor student progress and adapt instructional strategies to improve outcomes. Maintain accurate records of student performance, behavior, and progress to inform ongoing instruction and planning. Create a welcoming, safe, and productive classroom environment that encourages positive behavior and learning. Provide guidance and support to classroom staff in implementing educational strategies for students with special needs. Teaching Certification, Bachelors or Masters Degree or higher in Special Education A Special Education endorsement with Cognitive Impairment (CI) authorization (or be eligible to obtain it through an approved pathway). State License as as SPED teacher 1+ years of experience in a school setting preferred Experience working with children Organizational and time management skills Proficient in use of technology Fingerprint background clearance Ability to collaborate with school staff and parents with a demonstrated ability to exercise a high level of tact and discretion in both internal and external communications Physical Requirements Working and playing with students requires that employees must be able to perform the necessary physical movement functions, as needed, such as lifting, sitting, walking, standing, crawling, and engaging with students in all physical locations and activities, while adhering to the duties outlined by the district.
