The Youth Development Professional plans and implements educational, recreational, and leadership activities for youth while maintaining a safe and engaging environment. They are responsible for active supervision, behavior support, and ensuring the cleanliness and organization of program spaces.
August through May (Hours- 2pm to 6: 30 pm)

The Youth Development Professional plans, implements, supervises, and evaluates activities within assigned program areas, including education, the arts, sports and recreation, health and life skills, character and leadership, and specialized initiatives. This position maintains active supervision, ensures youth safety, and creates a positive Club environment that supports youth development and participation
Youth Development and Program Implementation
Create a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment that promotes positive youth development and encourages program participation.
Plan and lead age-appropriate programs, services, and activities for youth in assigned program areas.
Provide guidance, encouragement, and positive role modeling for youth individually and in groups.
Use a warm, respectful, and consistent approach when interacting with youth, staff, families, and partners.
Complete program lesson plans and rosters accurately and on time.
Supervision, Safety, and Behavior Support
Maintain active supervision of youth at all times and follow all safety procedures, emergency protocols, supervision expectations, Boys & Girls Clubs policies, and standard operating procedures.
Monitor indoor and outdoor spaces for safety concerns, unauthorized individuals, damaged property, broken equipment, or other hazards, and report concerns promptly.
Reinforce behavior expectations with youth and report significant behavior concerns, incidents, injuries, or property damage according to organizational procedures.
Use two-way radios and other approved communication tools appropriately to support supervision and safety.
Follows BGCL transition guidelines for on campus and on field trips.
Teamwork, Communication, and Professional Conduct
Communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, youth, families, school personnel, and community partners.
Participate in staff meetings, organizational training, and other required professional development.
Maintain professional standards for attendance, punctuality, dress code, language, and conduct.
Follow established call-out procedures and notify the supervisor at least two hours before the shift begins when unable to report to work.
Refrain from using personal cell phones during working hours, including texting, phone calls, or other personal use, except as authorized for work-related or emergency purposes.
Program Space and Equipment Care
Maintain clean, organized, and safe program spaces before, during, and after use.
Ensure equipment, supplies, and materials are used appropriately, stored properly, and reported if damaged or missing.
Take out trash and complete basic cleanup responsibilities after activities as assigned.
Maintains daily contact with youth and supervisors to receive and provide information, discuss needs, and follow program guidelines. Maintains positive, professional relationships with coworkers, school personnel, families, community partners, and the general public.
