The Assistant Coach supports the men's and women's cross-country program by planning practices, developing training plans, and providing instruction on race strategy. They also assist with recruiting, meet-day operations, and general program management to foster student-athlete success.
· Associate's degree required or an equivalent combination of training and coaching experience. · Successful coaching and recruiting experience required, at the collegiate level is preferred. · Current CPR/AED certification, or the ability to obtain certification. · Valid driver's license and clean driving record required.
· Assist the Head Coach in planning and conducting team practices, training sessions, and race preparation. · Provide instruction in cross country training principles, running mechanics, race strategy, and injury prevention. · Assist with developing individualized training plans that support student-athlete performance and long-term development. · Support meet-day operations, including travel, warm-ups, race management, and post-race evaluations. · Help monitor student-athlete fitness, wellness, and conditioning while promoting healthy training habits. · Build and maintain positive recruiting relationships with high school coaches, club coaches, and prospective student-athletes throughout Maine and New England. · Assist with program operations, including equipment management, travel coordination, scheduling, fundraising initiatives, and team events. · Maintain compliance with institutional, conference, and athletic department policies while fostering a positive, inclusive, and respectful team culture
