  • Essential
  • Functions: The following list of duties is meant to be representative of the work performed in this position. The omission of a specific duty or responsibility will not preclude it from the position if the work is similar, related or a logical extension of position responsibilities. Assist the Director of Nursing with administrative tasks, including maintaining departmental documentation, organizing meetings, supporting communication with internal and external constituencies, and assisting with scheduling and planning. Serve as the first point of contact for the Nursing program, including for students, prospective students, IC personnel in other offices, and the public. Address or appropriately direct questions that arise from multiple constituencies, keeping the Director abreast of issues that arise. Support departmental efforts related to curriculum, assessment, accreditation, and quality improvement. Maintain departmental budget records, generate budget reports, and process requisitions and reimbursements for the Director and Nursing program faculty members. Participate in and prepare minutes for nursing program meetings. As needed, provide administrative support to Nursing Program faculty members.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred; equivalent education/experience considered Proficient with Microsoft Office; strong word processing data management abilities Ability to work effectively with individuals from a wide range of backgrounds Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written Experience with and understanding of accreditation and reporting processes and standards preferred Ability to deal with confidential information Capacity to take initiative where appropriate: a self-starter Interest in the Nursing profession; familiarity with health care professions preferred Excellent organizational and interpersonal communication skills Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with a wide range of internal and external constituencies Personal integrity and professionalism Highly organized, detail-oriented, with the ability to consistently multi-task Clear commitment to working in a higher education setting Additional Job Details: Job Title: Administrative Assistant for the Nursing Program Department: Nursing Reports to: Director of the Nursing Program Status: Hourly, 12-month, full-time About Illinois College: Illinois College is a residential, private liberal arts college located in the heart of Illinois, 70 miles northeast of Saint Louis, Missouri, and 30 miles west of Springfield, the capital of Illinois.
