Job Description

Texas A&M International University (TAMIU), a member of the Texas A&M University System, welcomes applicants for a Clinical Assistant Professor of Nursing to begin Fall 2026. TAMIU is a Hispanic Serving Institution with over 8,000 students located in Laredo, Texas, a vibrant and bicultural city with a population of about 250,000. The university advances knowledge through research and discovery, teaching and learning, community engagement and public service, and with an intentional focus on student success and research excellence. For more information, please visit https://www.tamiu.edu. This is a full-time, non-tenure track, 9-month academic faculty appointment. Primary duties will include teaching assigned nursing courses; supervising student clinical experiences; evaluating students' progress in course work and clinical experience; completing all administrative aspects of courses taught; advising students throughout their program of studies, as appropriate; and planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating the curriculum, as appropriate. Duties also include serving on and participating in college and university committees; and providing service to the community and profession. This position requires face-to-face interactions through a regular schedule of attendance on campus and in the workplace. The Dr. F.M. Canseco School of Nursing is an accredited program by the Accreditation Commission for Nursing Education (ACEN) and is approved by the Texas Board of Nursing (TBON). Required Qualifications The successful candidate must hold an earned master's degree in nursing; have two or more years of clinical nursing experience; and have a current unrestricted/unencumbered license to practice registered nursing within the state of Texas. Those who are advanced practice nurses should meet and have all certification required for the specialty. We strongly encourage candidates with an earned doctorate in nursing from an accredited university. ABDs will be considered. Candidates with one or more years of teaching experience in higher education are also encouraged. We offer competitive salaries and a benefits package including health insurance, retirement benefits, and life insurance. Additional pay is available for summer teaching. Financial support for professional development opportunities, such as attending academic conferences, is also provided. Moving expenses are covered in whole or in part by the university.

Requirements

Candidates must hold a master's degree in nursing and possess at least two years of clinical nursing experience. A current, unrestricted license to practice as a registered nurse in Texas is required.
