  • SUMMARY: Entry-level position as a member of a child development center parent/staff team which provides appropriate early childhood experiences for children.

  • RESPONSIBILITIES: PERFORMANCE INDICATORS Assists teachers or other education staff in the implementation of center and classroom activities. Ensures a safe, healthy, supervised environment for young children. Participates, along with other staff members, in the daily cleaning and maintenance of the center. Maintains confidentiality regarding client and personnel issues, information, and records.

Qualifications

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma, G.E.D. or begin/continue enrollment in Early Childhood Education coursework. Previous experience with young children is strongly preferred. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Bilingual, biliterate (English/Spanish, English/Punjabi), and/or other language ability is desired. May be required, based on program needs. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple instructions. Ability to understand and use a variety of computer applications and appropriate software, including spreadsheets, word processing; and workplace electronic technology, including internet access and email. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Possession of or ability to obtain Pediatric First Aid/CPR Certification within the first sixty (60) days of work; must maintain current status. Possession of a valid California driver license; current personal vehicle insurance or safe driving record sufficient to ensure insurability through Agency policy. May be required to use personal vehicle in successful completion of job duties and responsibilities.
