The Paraprofessional supports scholars by providing Specialized Academic Instruction and assisting with IEP implementation under the direction of the Assistant Principal. They also collaborate with staff to foster an inclusive classroom culture and monitor student progress through service logs and assessments.
We are seeking a caring, passionate, culturally responsive Paraprofessional for a part-time position for the 2026-27 school year. A good candidate for this job must be able to use in-person teaching techniques to establish a fun and engaged learning experience and effectively support scholars.
Under the direction and supervision of the Assistant Principal, the Paraprofessional (SPED) works alongside Education Specialists and Learning Facilitators and assists in the provision of Specialized Academic Instruction (SAI), scholar support, and assessment for e3 Civic High. The Paraprofessional (SPED) will be active in the school and highly visible to the scholars and staff.
Tutor individuals or small groups of scholars, reinforcing instruction as directed by the Learning Facilitator and IEP case manager Assist scholars by providing proper examples, emotional support, a friendly attitude, and general guidance Direct group activities of students assigned; assist in monitoring students as directed Confer and collaborate regularly with Learning Facilitators concerning programs and materials to meet student needs Maintains compliance with special education laws Works with staff to ensure that IEP is being implemented Communicates regularly with IEP case managers and Dean of Special Education regarding the implementation of IEPs. Maintains service logs Support and maintain classroom norms Attends professional developments Strives to create a culture of inclusion Is a resource for Learning Facilitators to promote inclusive practices Leads by example/models best practices Collaborates on projects/helps differentiate curriculum and instruction Applies/encourages a growth mindset in all settings Champions an “all means all” mindset as in “we serve all kids… all means all!” Works with and embraces the whole student Collaborates with entire educational and social/emotional team Empowers classroom LFs to understand and manage behavior in the classroom Encourages self-advocacy and independence Helps the scholar see mistakes as learning experiences Helps build self-confidence and self-advocacy
Skills are required to perform multiple non-technical tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skills required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: operating standard office equipment including pertinent software applications; performing standard bookkeeping/accounting procedures; and preparing and maintaining accurate records. Knowledge is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios; read technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions. Specific knowledge required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job includes: Concepts of grammar and punctuation; standardized accounting/bookkeeping principles; keyboarding; and office support software applications. Flexibility is required to independently work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined and similar processes, and operate equipment using defined methods. Ability is also required to work with a significant diversity of individuals and/or groups.. In working with others, problem-solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans. Specific abilities required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: communicating with diverse groups; maintaining confidentiality; setting priorities; working as part of a team; and the ability to flex schedule, as needed.
Spending long hours repeatedly sitting and standing, using office equipment and computers which can cause muscle strain. Lifting of light supplies and materials from time to time. Ability to manage a number of requests and situations at one time.
Paraprofessionals normally work from 8:00 am until 4:00 pm 190 days per year The current rate of pay is based on education and experience. Paraprofessional I - Starting $22.00 hour and Paraprofessional II - Starting $25.00 hour.
