The English Learner Specialist will oversee the English Learner Program, providing instructional support, data interpretation, and progress monitoring for students. They will collaborate with staff to coordinate services and ensure compliance with Title III requirements.

The English Learner Specialist will oversee and provide support for the English Learner Program.

Participate in AZELLA training and support required testing, data interpretation, and student progress monitoring.

Provide professional development and instructional support for teachers serving English learners.

Collaborate with administrators, teachers, and the School Testing Coordinator to coordinate English learner services.

Provide required English Language Development services and supplemental push-in, pull-out, intervention, or tutoring services based on student needs.

Track student English language acquisition and academic progress.

Maintain required program records and documentation of supplemental Title III activities.

Perform other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Demonstrates knowledge of research-based language-acquisition practices, Arizona English Language Proficiency Standards, and applicable K-8 academic standards.

Supports administrators, teachers, and school staff in implementing and monitoring the English Learner Program.

Provides targeted English language and academic instruction based on identified student needs.

Provides supplemental Title III services outside of and in addition to required English Language Development instruction.

Uses AZELLA, district, state, classroom, and progress-monitoring data to plan instruction, evaluate student progress, and adjust interventions.

Supports teachers in using effective instructional, differentiation, assessment, and progress-monitoring practices for English learners.

Participates in school data, MTSS, and student-support teams concerning the academic and language-development progress of English learners.

Administers or assists with appropriate instructional diagnostic and progress-monitoring assessments.

Collects and maintains accurate student progress, service, and program records and provides timely feedback to staff, students, and parents.

Completes required Time and Effort documentation that separately identifies actual time devoted to supplemental Title III activities and non-Title III responsibilities and maintains applicable supporting records that substantiate the Title III-funded activities performed.

Creates a safe, positive, organized, and culturally responsive learning environment.

Communicates effectively and professionally with students, parents, colleagues, and the community.

Completes and maintains required certifications and professional qualifications.

Follows district policies, procedures, grant requirements, and administrative directives.

Performs other duties as assigned that are consistent with the position and applicable funding requirements.

EDUCATION, LICENSURE, OR CERTIFICATION Bachelor’s degree Education related field Certification Required ESL, Bilingual, or SEI Endorsement Teaching license required The incumbent in this position will be required to pass a criminal history background check.

Must possess strong communication and organizational skills.

Must demonstrate initiative and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

WORK EXPERIENCE OR RELATED EXPERIENCE Positively interact with all students.

Create a safe learning environment that is conducive to learning.

Capable of designing lesson plans to meet student needs and school & state requirements.

Able to employ varied teaching strategies and best practices that effectively teach the curriculum.

Ability to identify individual student needs.

Good communication skills with students, coworkers, administration, and parents.

Ability to collaborate with other teachers and school staff.

Demonstrate a commitment to the teaching profession by utilizing resources for professional development, therefore, improving the education that is provided BACKGROUND CHECKS The incumbent in this position will be required to pass a criminal history background check PHYSICAL AND TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT Daily travel to the assigned location is required Travel to additional locations may be required for professional development training/events.

This position requires the need to lift objects (up to 25 pounds) on occasion.

This position may require sitting for long periods at times, talking on the phone, standing, kneeling, stooping, and long periods of concentration.

Local and in-state travel required As funds allow, this is a Title III federally-funded position with responsibilities that align to federal requirements.

The continuation of this position will be revisited annually based on funding.

Candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree in an education-related field and possess a valid teaching license with an ESL, Bilingual, or SEI endorsement. Strong communication, organizational skills, and the ability to pass a criminal background check are required.
