The Athletic Training Aide provides first aid and emergency care to student-athletes under the supervision of a Certified Athletic Trainer. They also assist with injury rehabilitation plans, maintain equipment, and manage medical records.

Position Summary

All Duties and responsibilities are performed under the supervision and direction of a Certified Athletic Trainer.

Responsibilities include: 1.

Provide first aid and emergency care to student-athletes during practices and games.

2.

Assist student-athletes to carry out injury/illness rehabilitation and prevention plans designated by a Certified Athletic Trainer.

3.

Ensure essential equipment is available to both student-athletes and Certified Athletic Trainers during games and practices.

4.

Input daily treatments into computer and file student-athlete records appropriately.

5.

Perform proper sanitation and cleaning practices to ensure cleanliness of ATR and equipment.

Working relationships

Reports to Head Athletic Trainer.

Must be under supervision of a Certified Athletic Trainer when providing care for student athletes.

Required Qualifications 1.

Ability to carry essential equipment.

2.

Proper use and disposal of personal protective equipment when necessary.

3.

No more than 20 hours/week.

Schedule depends upon the time of practices/games of the athletic and club sports programs.

4.

Applicants must be CPR/AED and first aid certified.

5.

Applicants must be able to handle stressful situations in a calm and controlled manner.

6.

Dependability, punctuality, honesty and a desire to learn are a must.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Past experiences in nursing, triage, medical settings, and competitive sports recommended but not required.
  • Applicants having passed a high school sports medicine/athletic training class or the Intro to Athletic Training class offered by Westminster College will be given preference.
