This recruitment will be used to fill 30 part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) Swim Instructor for the KidSpirit Youth Organization at Oregon State University (OSU). The Youth Program Instructor is responsible for delivering high‑quality instruction to youth while fostering a safe, supportive, and growth‑oriented environment. The position requires strong communication, critical thinking, teamwork, and a commitment to ongoing professional development. Responsibilities include lesson planning, safety response, equipment management, program promotion, and effective collaboration with staff, families, and supervisors. WSI certification preferred or ability to participate in WSI training. Swim Lesson Experience / Training Preferred or High Level of Swim Experience Join Our Team | OSU–KidSpirit | Extension and Engagement | Oregon State University Position Duties: Create and maintain an instructional environment that prioritizes skill mastery, emotional safety, and positive youth development. Plan, prepare, and implement age-appropriate lessons and activities that support participant growth and engagement. Use observation, critical thinking, and feedback strategies to evaluate participants and support staff performance. Monitor participant safety always and administer first aid when necessary. Initiate emergency action procedures appropriately and calmly. Attend required orientation sessions, program meetings, and in‑service training. Check out, request, and properly use equipment and supplies for activities. Applicants must be currently enrolled students and possess valid First Aid, RRCAN, and Child Care Health & Safety certifications by the start of the program. A criminal history check and sex offender registry review are mandatory for this security-sensitive position.
