About iq academy, los angeles and the intervention specialist teacher position

iQ Academy, Los Angeles delivers online/virtual home based instruction to K-12 students in California. While our schools do offer some scheduling flexibility, students are still required to complete approximately 4-6 hours of coursework daily and log attendance. We use the K-12, inc. curriculum as the basis for instruction and you will teach via the Engageli platform. Teachers instruct students online daily both synchronously and asynchronously.

The Intervention Specialist supports students in grades kindergarten through HS by providing targeted academic interventions, progress monitoring, and individualized support designed to improve student achievement. This role collaborates closely with teachers, families, and administrators to identify learning gaps, implement evidence-based instructional strategies, and ensure students receive additional academic support beyond core instruction necessary to succeed academically and socially.

The ideal candidate is student-centered, data-driven, collaborative, and passionate about helping diverse learners achieve measurable growth. The subject matter will reflect both reading and mathematics.

This position supports supplemental academic intervention services identified in the school’s Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) and funded through LCFF Supplemental and Concentration (S&C) funding. Services are designed in response to the identified needs of low-income students, English learners, and foster youth and may be provided schoolwide to increase access to targeted intervention and improve student outcomes.

Hours and salary information

  • Full time teachers work
  • Monday-Friday from 8:30am-4:00pm. You are not allowed to have another job during these contracted hours.

Salary Range

$61,642 - $70,764 Annual salary is based on holding a Bachelors or Masters Degree and up to 5 years of experience in California.

We do participate in CalSTRS.

Job Description

Job Title: Intervention Specialist Teacher

Position Summary

This role collaborates closely with teachers, families, and administrators to identify learning gaps, implement evidence-based instructional strategies, and ensure students receive additional academic support beyond core instruction necessary to succeed academically and socially.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide small-group and individualized intervention instruction in reading, writing, Science and/or mathematics for students performing below grade level.
  • Design and implement targeted intervention plans aligned with student needs and school curriculum.
  • Use evidence-based instructional strategies and differentiated instruction to support diverse learners.
  • Support students with executive functioning, study skills, organization, and learning strategies as needed.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to reinforce core instruction and intervention goals.
  • Collaborate with Education Specialists and other members of the student support team, as appropriate, by providing intervention data, progress-monitoring information, and recommendations for students receiving intervention services.
  • If needed, attend an IEPs as a GE teacher for any students on case load.
  • Student Assessment & Progress Monitoring
  • Analyze assessment data to identify student learning gaps and intervention priorities.
  • Conduct ongoing progress monitoring and maintain accurate records of student performance and growth.
  • Adjust instructional strategies based on student data and response to intervention (RTI/MTSS) outcomes.
  • Participate in student support meetings, intervention planning meetings, and data review sessions.
  • Collaboration & Communication
  • Partner with classroom teachers, school counselors, special education staff, and administrators to support student success.
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress, intervention strategies, and recommendations.
  • Assist in developing and implementing student support plans and accommodations when appropriate.
  • Support schoolwide supplemental academic intervention initiatives designed to address identified student learning needs and improve academic outcomes.
