Power Scholars Academy (PSA) is a summer program designed to prevent learning loss and provide academic support. It serves K-8 students from San Francisco and San Mateo County, helping them strengthen their academic foundation as well as social-emotional and critical thinking skills. Students participate in daily math and literacy instruction with credentialed teachers for three hours a day, four days a week, to address learning gaps and prepare for the upcoming school year.
PSA Teachers deliver curriculum for K-8 students, collaborate with assistant teachers to promote student and family engagement, and provide families with regular updates on student progress and support needs. Training will begin in Spring 2026 and will include sessions tailored to the program and individual training needs.
Candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree and a current teaching credential, along with at least two years of teaching experience in an urban K-8 public school setting. Proficiency in communication and a valid TB test clearance are also required.
PSA Teachers work in dynamic classroom settings that may include both indoor and outdoor spaces, engaging in activities that require moderate physical activity, such as standing, walking, and interacting with students. The role requires the ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment, maintain a positive and engaging demeanor, and meet the physical demands of teaching and supervision, including handling classroom materials and technology.
