About the role

The Postsecondary Success Coordinator manages admissions and student engagement for the ARC Apartments while coordinating the Postsecondary Success Program. This role also supervises Peer Mentors and provides direct coaching to students to help them navigate postsecondary education.

Position Summary

Martha O’Bryan Center is seeking a Part-Time (approx. 25 hours per week) ASU Support team member to help college and postsecondary students successfully navigate the transition to and through postsecondary education. This position has primary responsibility for ARC Apartments admissions and student engagement and coordinates the Postsecondary Success Program (PSS). The role works directly with students, supervises Peer Mentors and helps students address barriers that may impact their postsecondary success.

Essential duties and responsibilities

  • Postsecondary Success
  • Manage admissions and ongoing engagement and monitoring of the ARC Apartments.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for ARC students and respond to student concerns, needs, and issues as they arise.
  • Coordinate the Postsecondary Success Program (PSS) and maintain regular engagement with participating students.
  • Connect students with appropriate MOBC, campus, and community resources.
  • Assist PSS and ASU students with college applications, FAFSA completion and course registration.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of student contacts, coaching, referrals, activities, and outcomes.
  • Communicate emerging student needs, concerns, and program progress to the Director of K-12 & Postsecondary Success.
  • Peer Mentor Supervision
  • Provide day-to-day supervision and coordination of Postsecondary Success Peer Mentors.
  • Establish Peer Mentor schedules, expectations, outreach priorities, and student engagement goals.
  • Coordinate Peer Mentor outreach through text messages, student check-ins, campus engagement, and follow-up.
  • Meet regularly with Peer Mentors to review student participation, concerns, referrals, and needed interventions.
  • Ensure student concerns requiring additional coaching, intervention, or support are appropriately elevated and addressed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in education, social work, counseling, human services, higher education, youth development, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience working with college students, young adults, high school graduates, or opportunity youth preferred.
  • Experience in student coaching, advising, college access or persistence.
  • Experience supervising or coordinating Peer Mentors, student workers, interns, or part-time staff is a plus.
  • Knowledge and abilities
  • Strong relationship-building and interpersonal skills, particularly with young adults.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to coach students through challenges while promoting independence and self-advocacy.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple students and priorities.
  • Knowledge of college and postsecondary systems, student support services, and community resources.
  • Strong documentation skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive student information.
  • Comfortable using databases, spreadsheets, email, texting platforms, and other technology.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a larger K-12 and Postsecondary Success team.
  • Flexibility to participate in occasional evening or campus-based student activities.
