The substitute teacher follows the lesson plans and classroom procedures provided by the teacher, maintains appropriate classroom management, and supports the Catholic mission and values of the school.Job Responsibilities
Follow lesson plans and instructions provided by the regular classroom teacher.
Provide instruction and supervision appropriate to the students’ age and grade level.
Maintain a safe, respectful, orderly, and positive classroom environment.
Monitor student behavior and enforce classroom and school policies consistently.
Take attendance and complete other classroom documentation as required.
Supervise students during transitions, lunch, recess, assemblies, and other assigned activities.
Communicate relevant classroom information or concerns to the regular teacher and/or school administration.
Protect student confidentiality and maintain professional boundaries.
Use appropriate instructional and classroom-management strategies.
Support the school's Catholic identity by modeling Christian values, respect, kindness, integrity, and service.
Participate in prayer and other school activities as appropriate.
Perform other duties assigned by the principal or school administration.
Job Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree or teaching experience preferred.
Previous experience working with children or in an educational setting preferred.
Strong communication, organization, and classroom-management skills.
Ability to work effectively with students of diverse learning needs and abilities.
Ability to follow directions and adapt to different classroom environments.
Commitment to supporting the mission and values of Catholic education.
Practicing Catholic preferred, depending on school and diocesan requirements.
Must successfully complete required background checks, safeguarding training, and other diocesan/school requirements.
