About the role

Counselors are responsible for leading and supporting campers through interactive STEM activities while ensuring a safe and engaging environment. They must collaborate with the team to facilitate daily camp operations and provide mentorship to children.

We are looking for enthusiastic, energetic, and reliable Camp Counselors to join our team for our remaining summer camp opportunities.

This is a great opportunity for educators, college students, teaching artists, camp professionals, and anyone experienced with children who has immediate availability and is ready to jump into an active camp environment.

Beyond summer, strong team members may also have opportunities to continue working with NORY through our School Break Day Camps, afterschool programs, birthday parties, and special events.

When?

Immediate end-of-summer opportunities, with additional opportunities available throughout the school year.

Availability?

We are prioritizing candidates who can begin as soon as possible and reliably commit to their confirmed schedule.

Schedule?

Monday through Friday, 7:45 AM to 4:30 PM, with Thursdays until 5:30 PM.

Camp runs from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with time before and after camp to prepare for a peaceful and successful day.

Compensation? $840.05 to $946.75 per week for Lead Counselors, including an $85 weekly bonus.

Additional $22/hour for extended care until 5:30 PM.

Location?

Manhattan and Brooklyn.

Camp Counselor Responsibilities Mentorship and Guidance: Lead campers through interactive STEM activities, guiding both their educational and personal development.

Safety and Supervision: Maintain a safe and welcoming environment for all campers, adhering to camp safety guidelines.

Activity Coordination: Help organize and lead camp activities, ensuring each day is dynamic and enriching for every camper.

Camp Counselor Qualifications Experience with Children: You have 1+ years of experience working with children ages 3 to 12 and possess a genuine passion for education and child development.

Immediate Availability: You are available to begin working as soon as possible and are ready to jump into an active camp environment.

Enthusiastic and Eager to Learn: You are enthusiastic about learning new technologies and skills.

Positive and Solution-Oriented: You maintain a positive outlook, always seeking solutions and welcoming constructive feedback to foster personal growth.

Fun and Energetic: Your energetic and fun-loving nature matches the dynamism of our young campers.

Reliable and Adaptable: You communicate clearly, adapt quickly, and can reliably commit to the schedule you confirm with our team.

Beyond Summer Camp At NORY, the opportunity to make an impact continues throughout the school year.

Strong team members may have opportunities to transition into our School Break Day Camps, which take place on select days and school breaks when schools are closed, as well as our afterschool programs, birthday parties, and special events.
