The Nurse Practitioner will provide comprehensive primary health care services, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for the university community. They will also collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to support campus wellness, quality improvement initiatives, and clinical operations.

The University of Southern Maine’s Health Services seeks applicants for a Part-time Nurse Practitioner.

As a Nurse Practitioner, you will play a vital role in promoting the health, wellness, and success of USM students by providing high-quality, compassionate primary health care services.

Working within the scope of your advanced practice licensure and national standards of nursing practice, you will assess, diagnose, treat, and support the diverse health needs of the University community.

In addition to delivering exceptional patient care, you will contribute to a collaborative healthcare team, support continuous quality improvement, foster professional growth, and help advance the mission and goals of Health and Counseling Services.

Our multidisciplinary team works collaboratively to support student well-being through counseling, outreach, consultation, prevention, and crisis response.

What You’ll Do: Provide Comprehensive Primary Care Evaluate patients using a holistic, patient-centered approach that supports the unique healthcare needs of college students.

Assess, diagnose, treat, and manage acute and chronic health conditions.

Provide first aid and emergency care to students, faculty, and staff as needed.

Educate patients on health promotion, disease prevention, and healthy lifestyle choices.

Maintain accurate electronic medical records and clinical documentation using established standards.

Serve as a patient advocate while delivering compassionate, strengths-based care.

Collaborate with the Healthcare Team Consult with physicians, nurses, counselors, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.

Participate in case reviews, quality improvement initiatives, and peer review activities.

Assist with the development of departmental policies, strategic initiatives, and clinical best practices.

Participate in research initiatives and committee work as appropriate.

Promote Campus Wellness Support campus-wide health education, prevention, and screening programs.

Maintain knowledge of community healthcare resources and facilitate referrals when appropriate.

Contribute to outreach efforts that promote student health and wellness across the University community.

Support Clinical Operations Maintain compliance with applicable clinical regulations, including OSHA and CLIA standards.

Assist with inventory management, equipment oversight, and recommendations for clinical supplies.

Precept and mentor nurse practitioner students, medical trainees, and other clinical learners as appropriate.

Pay and Benefits This is an in person, part-time, 9-month position based on our Gorham Campus but may provide services on all three campuses.

This position offers an annual salary of $35,625.00.

Requirements

Candidates must hold a Master's degree in Nursing, a current State of Maine license as an APRN, and ANCC or AANP certification. A minimum of two years of nurse practitioner work experience, current BLS certification, and a DEA license are also required.
