About the role

The adjunct instructor will teach graduate-level social work courses while collaborating with faculty on curriculum enrichment and student assessment. Responsibilities include managing course materials, providing timely feedback on student assignments, and resolving student concerns in coordination with program leadership.

Occupational Summary The Division of Social Work offers a program that prepares students for advanced social work practice and the trauma-competent practice.

We are seeking applicants for an MSW adjunct instructor position at our Wichita campus.

Compensation is a set rate per semester.

Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until position is filled.

Adjunct faculty contribute to the enrichment of our curriculum and work collaboratively with our faculty with teaching, learning and assessment.

Attend NU new employee orientation (if on main campus) and social work adjunct orientation at beginning of semester.

Attend additional adjunct meetings as necessary.

Meet with Lead Instructor of assigned course a minimum of 2 weeks prior to the beginning of the course to review syllabus, course materials, etc.

Inform students of their progress by promptly returning assignments, quizzes, and examinations.

Submit mid-term and final grades on the required platform by designated deadline.

Use Canvas and other technology as appropriate.

Consult with Lead Instructor, MSW Program Director, or MSW with resolving student concerns.

Required Qualifications/Education/Experience/Skills/Training: MSW degree from a CSWE-accredited social work program.

A minimum of three (3) years relevant post-MSW social work practice experience.

A minimum of 1-2 years of online teaching in higher education.

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications

Doctorate in social work or a related field. A record of successful teaching at the undergraduate or graduate level. A minimum of five (5) years relevant post-MSW social work practice experience. Licensed as a social worker or eligible for state licensure.
