About the role

The lecturer will co-teach courses on financial aid and college preparation while providing academic and leadership workshops for high school students. They will also assist students with test result interpretation, resume building, and provide individual counseling as needed.

As the Non-Credit Lecturer for Foundations and Seminars you will need to think creatively and be comfortable working with a diverse student population.

You will be an active member of the Upward Bound team and will work closely with the Director to help build high school student's skillset for higher education.

You will thrive in this role if you like combining your teaching experience and excellent communication skills all while, propelling students towards success.

To be successful in this role, you must be detail-oriented, creative, and have strong interpersonal skills.

Your normal hours will be on Saturday's 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM but you may have to flex your schedule from time to time based on the needs of the business to be a true non-credit lecturer.

This is a temporary grant funded role from August 28th, 2026, to May 8th, 2027.

The role is continually contingent upon this grant funding.

When our team shows up for work, they are energized and motivated to succeed - all while being the most crucial piece to keeping the Upward Bound operations humming.

What Will I Do At ESU? (AKA Essential Duties) Co-teach courses pertaining to financial aid / FAFSA.

Aid students with interpreting PSAT, SAT, and ACT results.

Assist students in developing pre-college resumes.

Conduct workshops for students pertaining to leadership, learning styles, decision-making, and community service.

Intervene and counsel students as needed and report areas of concern to the program administrative staff.

What We're Looking For (AKA Qualifications) Bachelor’s degree in Psychology or related field.

Master’s degree preferred Prior experience in TRIO Upward Bound or similar program preferred.

Experience with local school districts preferred.

Experience with Word, Excel, Teams required.

Able to read, write, and comprehend English; able to follow verbal instructions.

Requirements

Candidates must hold at least a bachelor's degree in Psychology or a related field and possess strong communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and experience with TRIO Upward Bound or similar educational programs is preferred.
