Control and maintain the program space, help to set up for activities and carry out assigned tasks. Help youth keep their belongings together. Lead or assist with age appropriate after-school programs while using positive teaching techniques. Engage and form a role-model type relationship with children. Use creativity and knowledge of children to help facilitate lessons and recreational activities and assist with clean-up. Greet caregivers and communicate appropriate information about youth progress. Communicate appropriately with other staff and work as part of a team to promote a positive atmosphere for program participants. Maintain safety standards.
Age 16 or over Experience working with children. Ability to arrive on time and work during scheduled hours. Must be reliable. Willing to take Child Abuse and Neglect course, and to be certified in First Aid/CPR. Enthusiastic and self-motivated to provide high quality service to school-age children. Demonstrate patience, caring and flexibility. Show respect for all confidential information. Willing to adhere to policy that prohibits use of personal devices during work. Physical Requirements Position requires working inside, and outside, frequent standing, walking, running, carrying and repetitive motions. It also includes occasional sitting (sometimes on the ground/floor), lifting up to 20 pounds, pushing, pulling, climbing, stooping and crouching.
