School
Nurse (RN), you will:
Caring for medically complex students, including tracheostomy care, wheelchair assistance, and monitoring respiratory status.
Ability to provide one-on-one care for a high school student throughout the school day, including medication administration, trach care, monitoring, and responding to medical needs.
Must be comfortable assisting with toileting and personal care; female RN preferred due to the student’s toileting needs.
Must be available to ride the school bus with the student to and from school each day and remain with the student throughout the school day.
Strong communication and collaboration skills required to work with the student, family, school staff, transportation personnel, and healthcare providers.
Respond to medical emergencies and coordinate with emergency services when necessary
Educate students, staff, and parents on health-related topics, including disease prevention, hygiene, and wellness
A few must-haves for School Nurses
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program with an active RN license in Indiana
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in pediatric, school health, or community health nursing
- Trach Experience is required
- Current CPR certification
- Strong assessment skills, critical thinking, and the ability to work independently
- Compassionate communicator who values collaboration with students, staff, and families
