Are you passionate about helping children learn, grow, and thrive beyond the classroom?

Join East Bay Community Action Program (EBCAP) as a Teacher Lead (School Age Childcare Group Leader) and become a key part of an engaging, supportive after-school experience where every day brings new opportunities to inspire young minds!

As a Teacher Lead, you will take the lead in designing a fun, safe, and enriching out-of-school-time (OST) environment for elementary-aged students in the Champion Childcare Program at Pell Elementary School.

You’ll guide daily learning experiences, foster positive relationships with students and families, and help shape a nurturing space that supports both academic success and social-emotional growth.

Working closely with the Champion Childcare Coordinator and OST leadership, you’ll also ensure all activities align with organizational goals, state regulations, and EBCAP’s mission to empower families and strengthen communities.

Key Responsibilities Student Support & Engagement Design and implement engaging monthly lesson plans and thematic activities Create a structured daily routine that includes homework assistance, literacy and math enrichment, outdoor play, and creative exploration Provide individualized support to students, including those needing additional academic or behavioral assistance Promote positive behavior by guiding students to set goals and make responsible choices Ensure a safe, supervised environment at all times Family Engagement & Communication Build strong partnerships with families, serving as a key liaison between school and after-school programming Encourage family involvement and participation in program initiatives Collaborate with school staff and other programs to support student success Program Quality & Compliance Maintain accurate documentation of activities, student progress, and program operations Support licensing, accreditation, and quality improvement initiatives Collaborate with leadership and external partners (e.g., DHS, BrightStars) to enhance program delivery Contribute to the development and refinement of program policies and procedures Collaboration & Leadership Supervise and guide Teacher Assistants in daily classroom activities Foster positive working relationships with school faculty and staff Support community partnerships and program coordination efforts Take on additional responsibilities as needed to support program success

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise Skills Strong classroom leadership and youth engagement abilities Effective communication with students, families, and colleagues Organizational and multitasking skills in a dynamic environment Problem-solving and decision-making capabilities Ability to collaborate across teams and community partners Commitment to creating inclusive and supportive environments for all children Candidates must meet one of the following: High School Diploma with vocational childcare training + 2 years supervised experience OR High School Diploma/GED + 3 years supervised experience OR Child Development Associate (CDA) + 1 year supervised experience OR 12 college credits in Early Childhood Education (or related field) + 3 months supervised experience OR Associate’s degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Human Services, Recreation, or a related field Understanding of child development and age-appropriate learning practices Familiarity with youth development strategies and behavior management techniques Awareness of community resources and support services

Requirements

Candidates must possess a high school diploma or GED along with at least one to three years of supervised childcare experience, depending on their educational background. Alternatively, an associate degree or higher in a related field with minimal experience is accepted.
