Special Education Teacher | Olympia, WA | 2026–2027 School Year Ampersand Therapy is hiring a Special Education Teacher for a contract position with a school district in Olympia, Washington, for the 2026–2027 school year. This is an in-person position beginning September 3, 2026. We are a women- and therapist-founded company working to elevate the employment experience for school-based professionals. Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Provide specially designed instruction based on students’ individual learning needs Create measurable academic, behavioral, social-emotional, and functional goals Adapt curriculum, instruction, and classroom materials to support student access and participation Use differentiated and evidence-based teaching strategies Collect and analyze data to monitor student progress and guide instruction Complete evaluations, progress reports, IEP documentation, and other required records Participate in IEP meetings, eligibility meetings, and multidisciplinary team planning Collaborate with general education teachers, families, administrators, and related service providers Support students in developing academic, communication, social, behavioral, and independent-living skills Implement behavior support plans and positive classroom-management strategies as appropriate Maintain a safe, structured, inclusive, and supportive learning environment Ensure services comply with state, federal, and district requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Special Education, Education, or a related field Valid Washington State teaching certificate with an appropriate Special Education endorsement, or eligibility to obtain one Must have current fingerprints on file with OSPI or be willing to complete the fingerprinting process Previous special education or school-based teaching experience preferred Knowledge of IEP development, progress monitoring, differentiated instruction, and positive behavior supports Strong communication, documentation, organization, and collaboration skills Benefits & Perks: Paid Sick Leave Healthcare Benefits

Requirements

Candidates must hold a bachelor's or master's degree in Special Education or a related field and possess a valid Washington State teaching certificate with a Special Education endorsement.
