Overview of Team

CEO’s Early Head Start/Head Start program creates partnerships and develops opportunities for social and economic growth and empowerment in individuals, families, and communities. We are a federally funded program that provides comprehensive early childhood services to children aged 6 weeks to age 5 and families throughout Rensselaer County.

Position Summary

CEO is seeking a Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK)/Head Start Teacher to plan and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum to support the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth of 3- to 4-year-old children.

Job Description

Responsibilities

include, but are not limited to:

Use age-appropriate and positive guidance strategies to teach, encourage, and redirect inappropriate classroom behavior.

Build relationships with staff and families through positive and professional communication, creating a welcoming environment, respecting diversity, and encouraging parent participation in the program.

Collaborate with teacher assistants and service providers.

Enhance the continuation of learning between home and school by conducting two home visits and two parent/teacher conferences each year, as applicable for Head Start children.

Complete all required paperwork as required by CEO and the School District, including meals counts, attendance, daily health logs, etc. in a timely manner. Complete lesson plans, individualization goals, anecdotal records, and assessments.

Utilize daily routines such as diapering, toilet training, hand washing, mealtimes, transitions, and playground time to promote learning and meaningful conversations with young children.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education required.
  • A New York State certification in Pre-Kindergarten (General Ed. Or Special Ed) or B-2 certification required.
  • Experience teaching preschool-age children.
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S without the need for Visa Sponsorship.

  • $28 per hour- 35 hours a week
  • 10-month schedule (September- June)- Follows Troy City School District Calendar
