Purpose of Your Position The primary purpose of this job position is to plan, implement and evaluate nursing service for students attending the Elizabeth Seton Children’s School (ESCS). This individual will work collaboratively with the transdisciplinary team, families and community agencies to create a continuum of health care for each student. Position Functions and Responsibilities Understands and promotes Elizabeth Seton Children’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values to ensure application with organizational policies and procedures. Perform nursing assessments and provide treatments and nursing care as required. Maintain accurate record keeping and IEP/IFSP goal tracking documentation as required by SED/EI and Coleman School policies for quality assurance and accountability purposes. Respond to and participate in resolving emergency medical situations. Attend daily clinical status meeting as required. Attend school trips as required. Complete daily rounds of each classroom and record and report information as needed. Administer medication as ordered. Evaluate and maintain emergency equipment. Participate in care planning conferences as needed. Prepare and conduct staff development on topics related to nursing care. Perform other tasks to support the operations of the school as assigned by School Administration.
Education Requirements: Graduate of an accredited RN program. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in nursing preferred NYS RN License Required NYS RN Registration Certificate Required National Provider Identifier (NPI) Number required Current BCLS certification New York State Registered Professional Nurse License; Pediatric Nurse Certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center, is preferred Experience One year of nursing experience Two years experience working with children; Plus experience working with multiple handicapped and/or medically involved children Employee Requirements: Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language fluently Must meet or exceed all health standards and requirements for the position as established by NYDOH and all other regulatory agencies Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this Center, which includes a medical and physical examination Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of thirty-five (35) pounds Perform tasks that may involve exposure to the resident’s blood/body fluids Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents, if necessary Working Conditions: Will work in a well-lighted and ventilated area Will be subject to frequent interruptions May be asked to work beyond normal working hours, and in other positions temporarily, when necessary Annual Salary: $92,088.82/Yr.
Candidates must be a graduate of an accredited RN program with a valid New York State RN license and registration. At least one year of nursing experience and two years of experience working with children, particularly those with multiple handicaps or medical needs, are required.
