Tutors will work with high school students individually or in small groups to provide academic support in subjects like math, science, and English. They will also collaborate with Educational Advisors to track student progress and foster a positive, college-going learning environment.

Established in 1970, JCYC was founded by students who stood in solidarity with other communities to fight for the creation of ethnic studies. Today, JCYC annually serves over 7,000 young people from all backgrounds and provides a continuum of care from preschool through college. The organization strives to offer young people a comprehensive array of services to ensure that they have the resources and support necessary to grow into healthy, productive adults.

JCYC Upward Bound is a year-round, pre-college TRIO program funded by the U.S.
Department of Education.
The program serves San Francisco public high school students who are from low-income families and/or will be the first generation in their families to attend college.
Program participants receive one-on-one advising, academic instruction, and a variety of experiences to enhance their college readiness and life skills.

JCYC Upward Bound tutors work with students at our high school sites during and after school to provide support in various academic subjects such as math, science, and English.
