  • Function: The Assistant Teacher supports the Lead Teacher in creating a safe and developmentally appropriate learning environment that promotes the growth and development of preschool children. This position assists with classroom instruction, child supervision, family engagement, documentation, and daily program operations while maintaining compliance with ECEAP performance standards and agency requirements. The Assistant Teacher collaborates with staff and families to support positive child outcomes and the overall success of the program.

  • Teacher assists in the following areas: Supervises and interacts with children to extend their learning. Facilitates small group activities. Models appropriate and professional practice aligned with ECEAP performance standards. Assists with record keeping related to attendance, meal counts, parent contact hours, accidents, illnesses, and emergency drills. Records child observations and assists with child assessments as needed. Participates in home visits and parent-teacher conferences when appropriate. Plans, implements, and attends parent/family events, activities, and meetings. Actively participates in all site-based, county, and agency meetings and in-service trainings. Performs classroom and program housekeeping tasks. Translates written and verbal information to children, parents and staff when applicable. Performs other tasks as directed. #voaww1

Requirements

Candidates must hold an Associate's degree or equivalent college credits in Early Childhood Education. Applicants are also required to obtain specific certifications including First Aid/CPR, food handler's card, and background checks within 30 days of employment.
