Job Description

The STARS (Small Town and Rural Students) College Advisor at Notre Dame will be a member of the University's Undergraduate Enrollment Strategic Recruitment and Scholarship Engagement team. They will also join a team of other STARS college advisors across the country (based in Illinois, Missouri, Tennessee, and Texas). The STARS college advisor will remotely advise high school students through the college process at 6-8 schools. This includes virtual meetings with students, presentations on applying to college, and regular in-person site visits to assigned schools. Essential Duties: Collaborate remotely with the supervisor of STARS college advisors to evaluate program outcomes, analyze performance metrics, and adjust regional advising strategies. Deliver specialized, one-on-one academic and college counsel to assigned high school students remotely and in-person quarterly, exercising independent judgment to guide individual academic planning, college fit, and post-secondary strategies. Design and lead educational workshops and events for high schools to drive college access, guiding students through complex application strategies, essay development, and financial aid planning. Manage ongoing communications and stakeholder relationships across partner high schools, exercising flexibility to conduct outreach and travel during evening and weekend hours as program needs dictate. Strategically foster and maintain partnerships across the recruitment network, providing expert counsel to students and parents regarding higher education admissions processes, requirements, and options. Drive special initiatives, including contributing to outreach material development, monitoring program expenditures, and leading recruitment events. Performs other related work as needed to support the program.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree 1 to 2 years of previous professional experience Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal Excellent presentation skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Maintain confidentiality Ability to execute multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines Handle a high volume of work, execute multiple projects simultaneously, set priorities, and meet deadlines Must be a proactive, energetic professional who takes initiative, embraces new challenges, and brings a positive, solutions-oriented approach to advancing the work of the team

Preferred Qualifications: Experience with college admissions process Experience working with middle school and/or high school students
