The Head Start Teacher Aide assists the lead teacher in organizing classroom activities, implementing lesson plans, and supporting the developmental needs of children. They are also responsible for maintaining classroom safety, sanitation, and accurate documentation of child progress and attendance.

What You'll Do: The Head Start Teacher Aide works under the supervision of the Head Start Teacher. The Head Start Teacher Aide assists with organizing classroom space and equipment to meet the individual needs of children enrolled. The Head Start Teacher Aide assists in planning, with the supervisory staff members activities in all areas reflecting Early Childhood Development practices, which will encourage children to: initiate activities, solve problems, explore, experiment, question and learn by doing. Support a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment aligned with Head Start standards and philosophy. Assist with implementing weekly lesson plans, including individualized, small-group, and large-group activities. Support activities that address children's developmental needs, IEP goals, and individual learning objectives. Prepare classroom materials, supplies, and learning activities in advance. Assist with implementing Creative Curriculum and the Head Start Child Outcomes Framework. Support accurate documentation and data entry in Teaching Strategies GOLD (TSG) and ChildPlus. Assist with screenings, assessments, observations, and maintaining accurate child records. Promote inclusive classroom practices and modify activities to support children with special needs. Incorporate children's cultures and home languages into classroom activities and interactions. Monitor classroom and playground environments for health, safety, sanitation, and licensing compliance. Complete daily health checks and required accident/incident documentation. Support family engagement through newsletters, calendars, home visits, parent-teacher conferences, and regular communication. Participate in child staffing meetings to discuss children's strengths, needs, and goals. Maintain compliance with Head Start Performance Standards, State Licensing Regulations, CACFP, and agency policies and procedures. Support family-style dining and appropriate mealtime practices. Maintain classroom organization, cleanliness, and sanitation standards. Support CLASS assessment goals and maintain a high-quality learning environment. Accurately complete and submit required paperwork, time, attendance, mileage, and other documentation. Participate in required training, staff meetings, and professional development. Perks! What You'll Bring: CDA (Child Development Associate) Credential or Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Human Services, or a related field preferred. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively with children, families, coworkers, and community partners. Proficient communication skills in English, with the ability to effectively communicate with children, families, staff, community agencies, and partners. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions and accurately complete basic mathematical calculations and records. Proficiency in using computers, internet services, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Outlook, and standard office equipment. Ability to assist with classroom instruction and assume teacher responsibilities when needed. Ability to recognize and report suspected child abuse or neglect in accordance with mandated reporter requirements. Ability to maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and effective working relationships with children, families, coworkers, and community partner.

Requirements

Candidates should possess a CDA credential or an Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field. Strong communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office are required to effectively support classroom operations and family engagement.
