About the role

The employee will provide remedial support in reading and math to students individually or in small groups. They will work under the supervision of classroom teachers and principals to assist with instructional goals.

Definition

An employee in this position will assist students individually and in small groups to provide remedial support in reading and/or math as directed. This employee will follow the direction of the classroom teacher and/or Principal and/or Instructional Facilitator.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Works directly under the supervision of the classroom teacher and/or Instructional Facilitator.
  • Works with students individually and in small groups to provide remedial support in reading and/or math, as directed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to meet the needs of all diverse learners.
  • Ability to work with students individually or in a small group.
  • Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with students, teachers, parents, and administrators.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral form.
  • Ability to develop and compile records and reports.
  • Skilled in current assessments and using their data for teaching and learning.
  • Understanding the growth and development of assigned students.
  • Strong background in North Carolina Standard Course of Study/Common Core.
  • Strong technology skills.
  • Minimum Education and Experience
  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Must be fully licensed as an Elementary Teacher (00025) and have previous tutoring experience.

This Position Reports Directly to: Principal

Salary

$35.84 hour (Certified, without retirement)

$30.13 hour (Certified, with retirement)

Classification: Non-Exempt
