About the role

The assistant coach is responsible for supporting the softball program at Ooltewah High School. They must ensure compliance with all TSSAA/TMSAA health and safety policies, including maintaining current certifications for coaching, first aid, and heat illness prevention.

Overview

Ooltewah High School is a 9-12 School in Ooltewah, TN, just outside of Chattanooga.

We are the second largest school in Hamilton County, serving just under 1300 students.

Our school was established in 1907 and we have a rich tradition of excellence, including strong community and parent support.

We are proud to be an AP Capstone School and host three Future Ready Institutes.

Additionally, we offer unique programs for our students including Culinary Arts and Audio/Visual Broadcasting.

Ooltewah High School is an all-inclusive community that continually works to build a positive environment for students, teachers and staff.

We focus on promoting exploration in innovation and cutting edge practices.

Our teachers are encouraged to step outside the box to try new and exciting learning experiences that capture and engage students.

Responsibilities

  • Non-faculty Coaches and Classified Employee Coaches must complete the NFHS “Fundamentals of Coaching” and “First Aid, Health, & Safety for Coaches” courses prior to assuming the position.
  • Coaches who have successfully completed the ASEP Coaches Education Course prior to May 15, 2013, will not be required to take the NFHS courses.
  • State Law (link- https://tssaa.org/health-safety-policies ) School Level AD should keep concussion Certificate- Copy on file every year.
  • School Level AD should keep Sudden Cardiac Arrest Certificate- Copy on file every year.
  • TSSAA/TMSAA (link- https://tssaa.org/health-safety-policies ) When applicable, completion of "Fundamentals of Coaching"- Copy on file.
  • When applicable, completion of "First Aid, Health, & Safety"- Copy on file.
  • NEW- When applicable, completion of “NFHS Heat Illness Prevention” course- Copy on file every year.
