Middle School Physical Education Support Apprentice Aberdeen Middle School
The High School Student Apprentice will support the middle school Physical Education department by assisting teachers with daily activities, equipment organization, student supervision, and instructional preparation. This position provides a high school student with an opportunity to develop leadership, communication, teamwork, and responsibility while working with younger students in a school setting.

Assist physical education teachers with setting up and putting away equipment for classes.
Help organize, distribute, collect, and properly store PE equipment.
Support teachers during games, fitness activities, drills, and other physical education activities.
Demonstrate appropriate sportsmanship, teamwork, and positive behavior for middle school students.
Assist with maintaining a safe, clean, and organized gymnasium, field, and other activity areas.
Help monitor students and reinforce established classroom and safety expectations under teacher direction.
Provide encouragement and positive support to middle school students during activities.
Assist with basic administrative or organizational tasks as assigned by the PE teacher.
Report damaged equipment, safety concerns, or student issues to the supervising teacher.
Maintain appropriate confidentiality and follow all school policies and procedures.
• Physically able to perform the essential functions, with or without reasonable accommodation, of the everyday responsibilities related to the curriculum, including, but not limited to, running, squatting, kneeling, demonstrating/modeling physical education activities, transporting materials and supplies, handling items weighing up to 40 pounds, and the ability to climb ladders.
• The student apprentice is expected to arrive on time, be prepared to work, follow teacher directions, demonstrate professionalism, and interact with students in a respectful and encouraging manner. The student will work under the direct supervision of the middle school Physical Education teacher and will not be responsible for independently teaching or supervising classes.
Training and experience required
Current high school student in good academic and behavioral standing.
Dependable, responsible, and able to follow directions.
Interest in physical education, athletics, recreation, or working with younger students.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to serve as a positive role model for middle school students.
Ability to safely perform routine physical activities associated with the position
