About the role

The coordinator is responsible for administering baptismal and marriage preparation programs, including guiding families and couples through sacramental processes. They also collaborate with parish staff and clergy to ensure liturgical celebrations and recordkeeping align with diocesan standards.

Description SUMMARY Under the direction of the Parish Catechetical Leader or Pastor, the Faith Formation Coordinator (Baptism and Marriage Preparation) is responsible for coordinating and administering baptismal and marriage preparation programs.

This includes preparing individuals and families to receive the sacraments, coordinating related liturgical celebrations, and ensuring proper documentation and program execution in alignment with diocesan standards.

The Coordinator collaborates with parish staff, clergy, and volunteers to support effective sacramental preparation and pastoral care.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The duties and functions outlined herein are representative of the types of tasks performed within this classification. They are not listed in any order of importance. Baptismal Responsibilities · Coordinates and implements baptismal preparation programs in collaboration with the Pastor. · Recruits, trains, and supports volunteers involved in baptismal preparation. · Meets with families to guide them through the sacramental preparation process. · Facilitates preparation sessions and ensures appropriate materials are available. · Coordinates baptismal liturgies and ensures proper sacramental recordkeeping. Marriage Responsibilities · Coordinates marriage preparation programs in accordance with diocesan and parish guidelines. · Meets with engaged couples to provide guidance, resources, and formation. · Supports clergy in identifying and addressing pastoral needs of couples. · Coordinates preparation processes, including FOCCUS and related formation elements. · Assists couples in understanding parish liturgical guidelines for weddings. · Ensures accurate sacramental records and documentation are maintained. General Responsibilities · Collaborates with parish staff and leadership to ensure alignment with overall faith formation efforts. · Ensures compliance with diocesan policies, including Safe Environment requirements. · Participates in parish and diocesan meetings related to ministry responsibilities. · Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Church employees must conduct themselves in a manner that is consistent with and supportive of the mission and purpose of the Church. Their public behavior must not violate the faith, morals or laws of the Church or the policies of the diocese. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE · Bachelor’s degree in Theology, Catechetics, Religious Studies, Pastoral Ministry, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. · Minimum of three (3) years of experience in parish ministry or related field. · Must have or be in the process of obtaining diocesan catechetical certification. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES · Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. · Ability to work effectively with diverse individuals, including families, couples, clergy, and volunteers. · Knowledge of Catholic doctrine, sacramental theology, and liturgical practices. · Ability to coordinate multiple programs, schedules, and deadlines. · Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. · Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. · Valid Florida driver’s license required, with an acceptable driving record. WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed primarily in an office setting. This position may require a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends, and may involve extended computer use. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Tasks require the ability to perform light physical work, which may include lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling objects and materials up to 15 pounds. Work may involve extended periods at a computer or workstation. A review of this position has excluded the marginal functions of the position that are incidental to the performance of fundamental job duties. All duties and responsibilities are essential job functions and requirements are subject to possible modifications to reasonably accommodate individuals with disabilities. To perform this job successfully, the incumbent(s) will possess the abilities and aptitudes to perform each duty proficiently. Requirements

Candidates must possess a bachelor's degree in Theology, Religious Studies, or a related field, along with at least three years of experience in parish ministry. A practicing Catholic faith and the ability to obtain diocesan catechetical certification are mandatory requirements.
