Professional Development and Orientation: July 1- 2, 2026

Qualifications: ● Hold Virginia licensure in special education

● Knowledge of best practices and experience teaching elementary school students with disabilities

● Knowledge of the academic, social and emotional needs of elementary school students with disabilities

● Willingness to be part of a team

● must be available to attend professional development and orientation

● preference given: To staff who are flexible in the event of reassignment to ESY if the need there is higher

Experience: ● Experience teaching students with disabilities

● Experience with and knowledge of subject matter

● Experience supporting students with disabilities in a mainstream classroom

● Experience working Summer School

Responsibilities: Include:

● Support students with disabilities who are enrolled in regular education summer programs

● Adapt instruction, assignments and curriculum depending on the needs of the students

● Provide accommodations and modifications for students as stated in their IEP accommodations page

● Collaborate with school staff, student services staff and families to ensure students with disabilities are successful in the Summer School Program

● Co-teach in grades K-12 as needed
