Job description

  • Summary This position will provide academic coaching and remediation to undergraduate nursing students.
  • Tutor should be a graduate student or or an upper level undergraduate nursing student, who has demonstrated high academic performance in their completed course work.
  • Focus of assignments will be on foundational nursing courses and hands-on skill.
  • Essential Functions Assist students in reaching a better understanding of their Nursing coursework by introducing self to class and explaining when and where coaching will be offered; communicating effectively and professionally in order to clarify content presented in the lecture and laboratory environments; leading review sessions and being willing to work with individuals as well as in a group setting; adhering to a set schedule of available hours which will be posted throughout the department.
  • Provide teaching support to instructors by: conferring and planning with professors; becoming enrolled as a user on the Canvas course website; and obtaining copies of necessary texts, notes, and syllabi for reference material.
  • Maintain frequent communication and proper documentation of academic services by utilizing the Barry email service to stay in contact with students; retaining copies of correspondence from students; maintaining and submitting sign-in sheets and log of study sessions; and notifying supervisor in advance of absences and arranging for coverage.
  • May be asked to perform additional, related duties incidental to the work described herein as determined by the instructor.
  • Qualifications/Requirements Must be a Barry University student.
  • A graduate student or an upper-level undergraduate nursing student is preferred.
