The teacher performs duties related to the special educational needs of hospitalized children and adolescents, which includes assessing educational needs, preparing detailed daily lesson plans aligned with ieps, and maintaining a conducive learning environment. Responsibilities also cover preparing for and presenting ieps, reporting on academic progress, assisting with discharge processes, and actively participating as a member of the interdisciplinary team.

Candidates must possess a bachelor's degree in special education and hold certification from the rhode island department of education appropriate for the hospital's patient population. A minimum of one year of teaching experience is required, along with demonstrated knowledge and skills for providing care across the lifespan.
