Athletics and Recreation - Children's Programming
Under the direction of the immediate supervisor, the Summer Sports Camp Instructor act as a role model and ambassador for McGill when demonstrating the benefits of a healthy and active lifestyle through a combination of participation and instruction of camp physical activities to children ranging from ages 5-15 years old. Duties Participate in the orientation for the camp Greet and welcome campers as they arrive at camp Liaise with campers’ parents regarding campers’ specific needs and progress. Lead and supervise campers and facilitate their participation during activities (i.e. tag, dodgeball, soccer and other basic games) to create a positive and memorable experience for all participants Design, plan and coordinate activities to meet objectives within an established operating schedule Assist with specialist-led activities (i.e. aquatics, tennis, martial arts, basketball) Know, enforce and follow all safety guidelines and understand all emergency procedures associated with the camp and communicate all issues requiring attention to Section Leaders immediately. Ensure safe movement of campers from one activity to another throughout the sports complex Monitor the environment to ensure the safety of campers and report any issues with campers and/or facilities to camp administration, and report or contact the Winsor clinic staff in the event of any incidents requiring immediate medical attention Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities High School Diploma with one year of relevant experience in the field of work. Currently enrolled in a McGill undergraduate or graduate program. Knowledge of French and English.
