About the role

The Mental Health Group Specialist is responsible for supervising and teaching clients, facilitating treatment groups, and supporting therapeutic needs. This role involves developing social-emotional learning curricula and managing program milieu to ensure client safety and engagement.

Position Summary

The Mental Health Group Specialist is responsible for supervising and teaching clients within the assigned program, facilitating treatment groups, and supporting therapeutic and developmental needs. This role plays a key part in creating a safe, structured, and engaging environment for children and adolescents with academic and behavioral challenges.

This position is at Best Point's Cambridge office located at 3101 Dixie Highway, Hamilton, OH 45015

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related field strongly preferred. At least 3 years of experience with a high school diploma required.
  • Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic technical skills required.

Key responsibilities

  • Direct Client Service
  • Develop, plan, and facilitate social-emotional learning (SEL) curriculum for children/adolescents who present with academic and behavioral challenges.
  • Manage program milieu, engage clients, and support individual therapeutic needs.
  • Participate in creating and implementing Individual Service Plans (ISP) and Behavioral Support Plans (BSP).
  • Conduct classroom/program meetings and maintain client safety and supervision.
  • Collaboration & Communication
  • Attend team meetings, contribute to treatment planning, and maintain communication with guardians.
  • Support campus-wide programs and promote a professional environment.
  • Quality Assurance & Professional Development
  • Implement feedback, participate in training, and maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Perform crisis interventions, including de-escalation and physical restraint when necessary.
  • Administrative Duties
  • Document client interactions in EMR, complete progress notes, and maintain accurate records.
  • Track attendance, manage program resources, and ensure timely preparation of materials.
  • Pay and benefits
  • Pay starts at $19.50/hr for those with a Bachelor's degree and above
  • Pay starts at $18.00/hr for those with just 3 years of experience and no Bachelor's degree or higher
